In the forgotten chambers of an old villa I found the setting for what would become an ongoing photographic series.
The moment I stepped into these rooms, the story began unfolding in my mind. The untouched spaces, the aged furniture and even the water stains on the walls – all were real, carrying the weight of time and neglect.
Left behind were two unlikely companions – a rag doll and a wannabe Barbie – forgotten remnants of someone’s childhood, trapped in an unspoken dynamic of love and resentment. Bound together yet unable to let go, they remain locked in a twisted relationship, caught between dependency and boredom.
While building the visual narrative, I also drew inspiration from the surreal tone and dark undertones of cult films like Death Becomes Her – a twisted tale of frenemies for eternity. As the work evolved, subconscious memories seemed to stage themselves within the scenes, adding unexpected layers to the story.
Using real models within this authentic environment, I blurred the lines between reality and fiction through surreal retouching techniques, enhancing the eerie atmosphere while keeping its raw essence intact.
The central theme is abandonment and codependency. The work explores the fragile balance between holding on and being forgotten.
Created for exhibitions, the series is ongoing, with more visual stories yet to come. Select artworks are available as museum-quality Fine Art prints, offered in exclusive limited editions.
