This is PAEONIA, the Latin name for one of my favorite flowers—the peony. Captured during the blue hour, this photograph draws inspiration from Feng Shui principles, aiming to blend fine art with the harmonious energy of this philosophy. The peony, with its luxurious blooms and deep symbolism, serves as an ideal subject for this exploration.
In full bloom, peonies reveal dense layers of ruffled petals in shades of white, pink, or red. Esteemed as the King of Flowers in Asian cultures, particularly in China, the peony symbolizes beauty, femininity, love, affection and good luck.
As blue dusk enveloped the white peony’s petals, the long exposure time imbued the image with a soft, creamy ambiance. While the initial photograph beautifully captured the flower’s natural allure, I sought to infuse it with my own artistic vision. By stretching and bending the pixels, I transformed the image into a contemporary, delicate interpretation of the King of Flowers. This piece stands as a testament to my unique, modern perspective on this timeless symbol of elegance and beauty.
I have chosen a totally different Hahnemühle Fine Art paper for this piece compared to the other works in the Floral Abstract series. It meets the highest museum standards, ensuring exceptional longevity and preserving its intricate details and depth. The rich blacks have a velvety quality, adding a luxurious softness that enhances the artwork’s delicate nuances and tonal variations.
